Make Dancing esqueleto Puppets!
These guys (and gals) are as much fun to play with as they are to make! Kids get a big kick out of how the finished puppet's arms and legs move with a tug of the string. The images are based on the grinning mustachioed skeletons and fancy catrinas of the artist José Posada. Includes cardstock skeleton parts to cut out, wire brads, string, sticks, glue, feathers, sequins, markers and a hole punch. Makes 30 puppets.Check out these other great Dos Manos craft kits!

Love these puppets; wish there was a refill kit
Jan 17, 2016 | By Kelly

I use the puppets year after year and they are a hit with my level 2 students each time. However, I wish there was just a refill kit. There are enough feathers, sequins, glue, toothpicks, hole punch, and string to cover at least 100. Each year I wish I could save money and just order the card stock cutouts, dowels, and paper fasteners (brads) since I have everything else leftover.
Day of the Dead String Puppets
Oct 18, 2017 | By Sergio Galiano

My students have done Day of the Dead arts and crafts for the last 21 years. We love the all of them, but specially the puppets. They are so much fun to color and decorate plus they move and dance. The best of all my students have been donating their creations to children in Guatemala and Mexico. We take pictures with them and I visit the orphanages in those countries to bring joy to the children. Thank you for making this happen Teachers Discovery.
Staff's Response: Hi Sergio, Thanks for the wonderful review. Love that you and your students like the string puppets. How beautiful that your students share their puppets with the children. Thanks for sharing! Have a wonderful day. -Kristin
Great activity - too many extra supplies
Nov 18, 2019 | By Kelly Scheetz

I used to do this every year but I took a break. I brought them back this year and the students (grades 9-11) loved it.
As always, I ended up with way too many supplies (glue, feathers, sequins, hole punchers, string). I have to purchase 2-4 kits to cover my classes but I really only need that many of the cardstock skeletons, dowels, and paper fasteners. One kit of the other materials would suffice.
