Traditional First Day of School Craft Kit!

Sweeten the first day of school and introduce your students to a long-standing German tradition. Schultüten are brightly decorated cardboard cones filled with toys, chocolate, candies, and school supplies. They are given to children on the first day of school to ease the return to serious stuff. This teacher-requested kit comes with 17-inch tall double-sided cardboard cones printed with brightly colored designs on one side and black and white on the other, for students to color. Kit includes cones, tissue paper, yarn, glue, the history of Schultüten, and instructions. You provide the goodies! All levels. Set of 12.

Nice Schultuten

These are good Schultuten--sturdy, slits for hooking tabs together, great size (I thought I'd have a hard time filling them... I was worried that they'd seem "empty. But I put a small bag of chips in each and it took up almost all the space.) My high school freshmen enjoyed making them and the colorful pieces make for a good picture.The double-sided option is nice, and it's also good on the colored side that the print extends past the "cut" lines.The included glue was much bigger than the picture, but off brand (however I never used it). Tape is included. The info sheet was a nice addition.

Schultuten not quite complete

I was a little disappointed. The instructions say that you need about 6 inches of red yarn to tie the bags. There were barely 20 inches included. So I had to go out and buy red yarn to do the project.
