Effortlessly engage your students in authentic learning experiences—aligned to the Common Core—using the EPIC Time project. This all-encompassing curriculum takes place one class period per week, just 20% of class time, for an entire semester, and asks students to identify a problem in their community and create a solution to solve it.

During the project, students explore real-life issues, develop an action plan, execute a project, and present to a panel of community members. While the goal is to create a viable solution to a problem, student solutions are not graded. Instead, steps in the research process, written solution proposals, and presentations form the basis of student assessment.

This has a good concept but it was not as detailed as I would have liked it for the price. There was a lot of background on why to do it but not a lot on how to do it. It would have been nice to have detailed options, worksheets for students, website suggestions, etc. I ended up not using it because of lack of detail and I feel it was not worth the money I paid.

Staff's Response: Hello Brandi, I am sorry that you were not satisfied with the EPIC Time Resource. At the core of the project is student choice so that students are invested in the problem in their community they chose to study and develop a plan to solve. For this reason website suggestions for students to begin their research were not made. As for how to do the project, the majority of the book explains how to implement EPIC Time in your classroom. Beginning on page 11 is the overview of the project, which includes two detailed pacing guides: a 16-week semester guide and a yearlong guide. Then the Step-by-Step directions for teachers, which provide detailed day by day lesson plans for the entirety of the project, begin on page 21.
