Family Pictures Mexican-American Folk Art Picture Book
Award-winning author-illustrator Carmen Lomas Garza shares still-life paintings of her childhood near the Texas-Mexico border in this book. Her paintings show moments—a fair in Reynosa, picking nopal cactus, a quinceañeara, and more. Each painting includes a short explanation of the scene in English and Spanish.
Note: This book contains some images that may not be appropriate for all ages, including depictions of killing a chicken for food (violence), a dead shark (blood), and a rabbit processed for food (blood).
