Teacher’s Tip:
If you are teaching using an authentic resource, choose a significant paragraph, section, or a chapter so that younger readers can handle it. Teach them first and foremost to look for cognates and to guess the gist of a section.
For upper levels, choose a section and have students write down verbs that end with a particular tense. Ask them what they think each one means, given the context. Without going deep into how to conjugate, you can make blanket comments, so they recognize patterns and can predict the meanings. Teach grammar as vocabulary!
