About the Authors
Melissa Creamer and Elaine Swope have been teaching in Northeast Ohio for more than 10 years. They have similar teaching philosophies and styles, and have been working together to incorporate Integrated Performance Assessments and activities in their classes for the past several years. Changes in Technology Novice-Mid Spanish IPA

Interesting, but the worksheets are way too long. The first and second activities in the Reading and listening are about punctual facts, and then the third and fourth are more open questions, this does not make sense; they should start with from the overall understanding and work their way up to the detail. At the novice level students do not know Imperfect, and other grammatical concepts needed in order for them to answer punctual questions :( The worksheets that come along are too much (too many questions)

The design of the IPAs in our selection follows the template for IPAs designed by ACTFL.
Novice level includes Spanish I and II, and many Spanish II programs teach the imperfect tense. The IPA is designed so that the teacher can use an authentic resource to teach the imperfect tense. The teacher can introduce or expose Spanish I students to the imperfect tense once they learn the present.
The IPAs are not really designed to coordinate strictly with a textbook since, in many states, it has been suggested that we no longer use them as the main source.
